Fighting Covid-19: Can I export my hand sanitising gel to the EU?
Yes, you can, but it is important to note that the party/parties you supply with your product is/are responsible for fulfilling the requirements of the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR, 528/2012/EC). In other words, not the exporter (established outside the EU), but the importer (established in the EU) is bound by the obligations of the BPR.
Under normal circumstances, the EU-based importer of your (hand) disinfectants must submit an application for authorisation prior to making the products available on the market. However, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, Member States may temporarily permit products on their market that do not comply with the BPR. Please note that during this period, the rules differ per Member State.
