What is an inquiry dossier?

As of 31 May 2017, it is no longer possible to benefit from the extended REACH registration deadline for “phase-in” substances. From this date, substances must be registered with ECHA prior to manufacturing or import in quantities above 1 tonne per year. The first step is to inform ECHA of your intentions to register through an inquiry.

Inquiry requires a dossier containing information regarding substance identity. ECHA evaluates your application, analyses substance sameness and –where the substance has previously been registered – refers you to the relevant SIEF to join the registration.
