Substances & mixtures
In the European Union, chemicals are subject to the requirements of the REACH and CLP regulations. Following Brexit, the UK has brought these regulations into UK law. As the UK and EU chemical regulatory regimes now evolve independently, the divergence between the two has started to emerge and will continue to increase.
REACH services
Do you intend to manufacture or import a chemical substance into the EU (or Northern-Ireland) and/or into Great-Britain (England, Scotland, Wales) at a quantity of one tonne per year or more? Then you must register this substance in accordance with the REACH Regulation (1907/2006/EC) and/or UK-REACH Regulation, respectively. In the EU, the REACH registration dossier must be submitted to ECHA, using the REACH-IT platform. In Great Britain, submission is done to HSE via the Comply with UK REACH Service. Depending on your needs we can take the full registration project off your hands or parts thereof, including:
- REACH Inquiry
- IUCLID lead and member dossiers
- (Chesar) Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA)
- Chemical Safety Report (CSR)
- Exposure Scenarios (ESs)
- Analytical determination of Substance IDentity (SID)
- Substance sameness check
- Literature research and documentation
- (Q)SAR analysis, read across and grouping strategies
- Preparation of test plans and use of waivers
- Study monitoring
- SIEF communication
- Technical support REACH-IT (EU) / “Comply with UK REACH”
Your REACH obligations are not limited to registration. We can further help you with:
- Dossier updating
- Substance screening and regulatory monitoring
- Downstream user support
- Authorisation application
- Safety Data Sheets
CLP services
EU-GHS (1272/2008/EC) is the European derivative of the UN Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (UN-GHS). Covering the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, EU-GHS is known simply as “CLP Regulation”. In Great-Britain (England, Scotland, Wales), the CLP Regulation has been implemented as GB-CLP. Our (GB-)CLP services include:
- Product classification
- Application of bridging principles
- Determination of labelling and packaging requirements
- Product (re)formulation: identification of relevant concentration limits
- Impact of classification on storage and transport
- Notification to Classification and Labelling Inventory (EU) / GB CLP substance notification
- Poison Centre Notification (PCN)
Further, The Chemical Compliance Coach can help you (re-) label and package your products in compliance with product specific legislation, such as:
- Biocidal Products Regulation
- Regulation on Detergents
- Tobacco Products Directive
- Aerosol Dispensers Directive
- Transport regulations (ADR, ADN, IMDG, IATA and RID)
